Cucurbita moschata
Historical variety from France of considerable size and with melon-like taste
Strongly growing, heat-loving, tendrilous pumpkin with flat-round, deeply ribbed fruits of usually 3 to 8 kg. The pumpkin is dark green at first and turns ochre-orange with increasing ripeness. The firm, intensely orange-red fruit flesh tastes refreshingly sweet and fruity-aromatic. Mature, well storable and versatile: for roasting, grilling, baking, steaming, marinated, raw in salads, as dessert, cake or jam.
